MAGIC JOURNEY
We take your students on a magic journey in to the world of books, consisting of theatrical presentations of popular stories and poems. We motivate students to participate in the performance- they become some of the characters and act our the stories. This unique ‘Bookworm’ approach has been widely praised by teachers across Australia since 1978.
Our stories are carefully selected to ensure we bring vibrancy and theatricality to your students’ learning. You can expect your students to be enlivened, entertained, engaged and educated by their experience, and will leave the performance motivated to build on that experience.
Each performance goes for approximately 50 minutes and contains three stories which are selected by... YOU! By choosing the stories from our programme that suit you best, you can ensure that your students get the most out of the experience. Our story selection changes each year and include poetry, fairytales and world stories. You can find our 2023 story choices below.
For our junior audiences, we understand that sometimes a live storytelling show in your classroom may be a little overwhelming for some students. Our actors are aware of the needs of the audience and will adjust a performance to accommodate those needs.
“Brilliant! So much fun and the kids were totally engaged for the whole show. Loved it!"
- Jess Inglis, Kerang.
opening stories: (choose one)
A Classic poem about a pet dragon by American poet Ogden Nash. As the saying goes, 'don't judge a book by it's cover'.
Filled with fantastic characters and lots of silliness, this wild tale brings the magic of language to life in the most fun way possible.
When a man who thinks he can do everything better than anyone else, meets a contraption that can’t be tamed, chaos and hilarity are bound to occur. Watch language spring to life before your eyes as Mulga Bill’s wildest ride takes place right before your eyes in Banjo Patterson's classic poem.
A.A Milne's beautiful poem bursts to life in classic Bookworm style! Sometimes all you want to do is play, but no one is in the mood!
Maybe what you need is an excited little puppy to join you in your adventures.
A wonderful poem about the importance of being persistent and having fun.
main stories: (choose two)
Our Farmer has an empty space in his garden, what could he plant there?
How about a sprinkle of fun, a handful of silly and a giant scoop of mayhem!
It all adds up to a great big enourmous problem! A classic tale about teamwork.
Join Hans and Helga as they tell the famous much loved tale, that has become our most popular story ever! Three great goats and one tricky troll, make for a fantastic lesson in friendship, problem solving and the downside of greediness. Our troll may seem grumpy, but he’s really very silly and great fun.
The goats may come in small, medium and big, but the fun only comes in extra large in this marvellous misadventure.
Run, run as fast as you can! Get ready for fun, it's the Gingerbread Man!
The little old man and the little old lady just want a snack! But the Gingerbread man wants to go on an adventure instead. Hopefully they don't run into any sneaky fox's along the way...
A sleepy capseller, some cheeky monkey's and a whole lot of fun. Through repetition, gesture, body language and words the capseller shows us some of the many many ways we can communicate with each other while giving everyone who's watching a very big laugh.
Poor Mummy Pig! All of her little piglets are moving out of home. They're going to be building houses with all sorts of different things. But will those houses be strong enough when a silly wolf comes to call with a huff and a puff?
